DVD Resell Rights - Common Terms and Conditions

The terms and conditions of license are an obviously important aspect when you are considering the purchase of DVD resell rights.

Many people interested in acquiring resell rights will be familiar with the terms commonly attached to the distribution of digital products (e.g. ebooks) that can be distributed as downloadable files via the internet.

Such licenses serve as a good introduction to the world of licensing and will often be seen expressed in the following format:

[YES] Can be rebranded
[YES] Can be added to paid membership sites
[YES] Can be packaged with other products
[YES] Can be bundled with other products
[NO] Can be given away
[NO] Can be offered through auction sites

These terms will often appear right on the sales page. In this case, the licensor is offering standard resell rights, as opposed to master resell rights (see these terms defined here).

And although it is not mentioned, you can be sure that when you see terms and conditions expressed in this way, you are dealing with a non-exclusive license (meaning others - usually numbering in the hundreds, or even thousands - will also hold the same rights).

You should expect the resale license associated with a DVD to be more extensive and definitive, as the product developer will usually be more serious about the enforcement of the license terms.
